Lloyd M. Moore, 84, of 205 N. Jefferson, Silver Lake, died at 11 a.m. Dec. 28, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 22, 1925, in the home of his parents, William and Viola Moore, near Yellow Creek Lake in Kosciusko County. On Aug. 11, 1945, he married Evelyn Watson, who survives.
He retired from Zimmer Inc. in 1987, where he worked as a machinist for 42 years. He was known as "MOE", an affectionate nickname given to him by his co-workers of many years.
After retirement, Lloyd continued using his machinist skills in his wood workshop making a variety of useful household items and giving them away to his many friends and family members. He also loved to travel, he and Evelyn were frequent visitors to their many friends and family throughout the United States. They also traveled to 12 foreign countries and served at a mission in Mexico. He enjoyed fishing anywhere and spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 73 and Eastern Star of Warsaw; Mizpah Temple and Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne. He also served his community of Silver Lake as a member of the Lions Club and was a town board member of eight years. He delivered Mobile Meals and volunteered in the soup kitchen at the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw where he was a member.
Also surviving are five children: Tom (and spouse Bonnie) Moore, Leesburg; Janet (and spouse Ken) Scott, Carmel; Jeff (and spouse Lorene) Moore, Jerry (and spouse Marsha) Moore and Terry (and spouse Emily) Moore, all of Warsaw; he was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ina Konkle, Claypool. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 179 S. Indiana St., Warsaw, with Pastor Toni Carmer officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. A Masonic service will be conducted at 8 p.m. following visitation.
