Lloyd L. 'Fuzz' Woods

ROCHESTER - Lloyd L. "Fuzz" Woods, 81, of 433 E. 18th St., Rochester, was summoned to the Heavens at 8:48 a.m. May 6, 2009, while in Hickory Creek Health Care, Rochester, to be with his Lord and Savior.

He was born April 12, 1928, in Kosciusko County, to Elmer and Harriet Marie Carey Woods. On June 2, 1967, in Rochester, he married Mary Joanna Chalk, who survives.

Moving to Rochester from Kosciusko County 41 years ago, he retired from Black Oxide as a truck driver and had also driven truck for Nelsons Trucking, hauling livestock around the Midwest. He was a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rochester. With great pride he enlisted with the U.S. Army and served our country during the Korean War. As an avid outdoorsman, he embraced nature as he camped out under the stars. One of his favorite locations was Gatlenburg, Tenn. He and Mary Jo also enjoyed many summers of camping on Kosciusko County's Dewart Lake. There was fishing and fun with many great times to relax. Almost every weekend Mary Jo would churn the ice cream maker - and create custom vanilla or chocolate, both favorites of Fuzz. Reflecting on life's simplicity were special moments by the bonfire under the moonlit skies.

A memorable camping trip to the shores of Lake Erie also brought on an opportunity to fish. during this adventure he caught the limit on Walleye, Lake Bass and perch. Country music was also a source of relaxation, the Statler Brothers were his favorite. Hot foods were not complete without some spicy hot salsa to top them off.

Also surviving are a daughter, Cynthia (and spouse Michael) McGuire, Camdenton, Mo.; two sons, Dan Woods, Warsaw, and Lanny (and spouse Donna) Woods, Tennessee; several grandchildren; three sisters, Maxine Goon, Leesburg, and Sadie Summy and Gloria Jean (and spouse Maynard) Wade, all of Warsaw; a brother, Don Woods, Warsaw; and many nieces and nephews. Welcoming him at Heaven's gate was many members of his family including his parents; an infant daughter, Cindy; a brother, Dick; sister-in-law, Marcella; and a brother-in-law, Norm.

A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with Chaplain Jason See officiating. He will enter into eternal rest at Mt. Zion SE Cemetery with military graveside rites by members of LeRoy Shelton American Legion and Manitou VFW.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
