Lindsey Grossnickle Announces Candidacy For Superior III JudgeLindsey Grossnickle announced her intention to seek election to the Kosciusko Superior Court III judge’s chair.

She is the fourth Republican running for the position in the May primary, following Chad Miner, Robert Bishop and Karin McGrath.

Grossnickle began her legal career clerking for the Honorable Patricia A. Riley of the Indiana Court of Appeals, from 2000 to 2002. From 2002 to 2016, she had a private practice in Columbia City at the firm known as Bloom Gates Sigler & Whiteleather LLP (now Bloom Gates Shipman & Whiteleather LLP) (BGSW).  During this time, she primarily focused on family law matters. She became a partner at BGSW in 2009.

In 2013, Grossnickle became a registered family law mediator. She has also done a significant amount of appellate work, arguing before the Indiana Supreme Court in 2010 and the Indiana Court of Appeals in 2014, according to a news release she provided.

From 2004 to 2012, Grossnickle also worked for the city of Columbia City as a deputy city attorney and the appointed city attorney.

Since 2004, Grossnickle has worked as a part-time deputy prosecutor in Whitley County. She has been responsible for the Title IV-D division of the office for 16 years, including both civil and criminal. She has been in charge of all juvenile matters in Whitley County for 14 years.

In 2016, the Whitley Superior Court implemented a Veterans Treatment Court.  Since the beginning, Grossnickle has served on the team as the prosecutor’s office representative. Her father was a Vietnam War veteran, and she believes serving on the team is honoring his memory, the release states.

Grossnickle has been required to handle other various felony and misdemeanor matters, along with probation violations and traffic infractions.

She also has been a co-coordinator for Whitley County Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) since August 2016 and co-coordinator for Kosciusko County JDAI since July 2018.  

It is Grossnickle’s professional goal to become a judge. In this endeavor, she has practiced in many areas of law. She has had an abundance of courtroom experience, including civil and criminal jury trials and mediation experience, as well as legal writing, the release states. Grossnickle has been a public servant for the majority of her career, and wishes to continue to serve the public in this new role.

Grossnickle graduated from Alma College in 1997 with a bachelor of art degree in political science and English, and then earned her law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2000.

She has served on a variety of boards in Kosciusko and Whitley counties, and statewide. Presently, Grossnickle serves as the board chair for Whitley Crossings Neighborhood Corporation, board member for TROY School, Human Rights Committee Member for Passages, Safe Places advisory board member for the Youth Services Bureau, Whitley County Community Corrections advisory board member and Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council child support subcommittee member.

Her husband, Andrew, is an attorney with the law firm Beers Mallers Backs & Salin. Lindsey and Andrew are parents of an 8-year-old daughter. As a family, they enjoy season passes at the Wagon Wheel Theater, and spending summer weekends at Beaver Dam Lake. They are also avid fans of live music.
