Editor, Times-Union Contrary to popular belief, war protestors didn’t end the Vietnam War. It went on without us and was won by the Communist North Vietnamese in 1975. Liberals don’t seem to know how to win wars. Liberals think that if we’re nice to those who don’t like us, they will be nice to us. Doing unto others as you would have them do unto you didn’t save Jesus from the cross. If you were in Alaska and saw an approaching grizzly bear, would you get in a vehicle and drive away or would you try to pet it? A few years ago, a man who believed being nice to grizzlies would make them at nice was killed by a grizzly. A slogan in France is: They have guns, but we have flowers. This makes terrorists laugh. They hate those who don’t think like they do and might kill those who confront them with flowers. Liberals consider themselves caring people because they don’t want innocent civilians to die just to get to our enemies. Our enemies know this and surround themselves with civilians. Bin Laden would have been killed during the ’90s if it hadn’t been for the Clinton administration’s concern for civilians that surrounded him. Maybe liberals think nearly 3,000 Americans dying on 9/11 was better than killing less than a dozen in order to kill Bin Laden. Conservatives warned if we pulled our forces out of Iraq that terrorists would fill the power vacuum. Obama didn’t believe this, and due to his arrogance proved conservatives correct. ISIS exists because liberals don’t realize being nice in order to confront evil allows evil to be victorious. Those committed to evil interpret niceness as weakness and those who are weak must be destroyed. Liberals believe it is better to let 1,000 guilty people go free than execute one innocent person. Maybe liberals spared the lives of Hitler, Lenin and Stalin instead of executing them for treason. Mercy toward them produced the murders of many millions of victims. Ted Kennedy predicted we’d need at least 100,000 body bags if we invaded Iraq during Gulf War One. He helped defeat freedom in Vietnam and might have thought Iraq would become worse than Vietnam. If liberals hadn’t restricted the first Gulf War, maybe we could have freed Iraq in 1991 and wouldn’t have needed to go in again in 2003. We gave hope to those who yearned for freedom and liberals destroyed their hope. Let liberals embrace the grizzly bears. Maybe if enough of them are eliminated, conservatives won’t have obstacles in the way of victory during future wars. Rick Badman Warsaw
