Editor, Times-Union: The best-kept public secret as to why the sneaky governors are selling off the state infrastructures seems to escape most tax slaves. Whether you have noticed or not, the U.S.A is worse than broke. Its trillions in debt to corporations and nations all over the world. Our people have gone along with the building of a mountain of debt for generations. Old and young alike have been on a debt drunk all their lives.
If you want wars, you have to pay for them. If you max out your credit cards, you must pay the piper. If you take on bloated mortgages for houses three times the space you need, you have to pay for them.
At the same time you allow billions each year in foreign aid to keep corrupt third-world leaders living in grand style. Even the money you give away is borrowed.
Within a short period of time, the collapse that has slowly started will hit all the sleepwalkers in the face like ice water.
You better start reading more than the front pages, comics and sports.
Oh yes, on that big Indiana toll road sale, the money paid for it has devalued a lot since the sale was made. It won't be long until those dollars will be worth less than half what the state is being paid. This county is getting peanuts anyway.
Tip to the wise: Don't keep over $1,000 in the bank just in case! This is a friendly wake-up call and, yes, sweety, there really is a fire in the theater!
