Limited Consciousness

Editor, Times-Union:
We are all the same soul, the same spirit, the same consciousness, the same energy. We all have so much more in common than we realize. I am you, and you are me, and we are we, and we are all together to use the words of John Lennon.

This is the all-inclusive view of our expanded consciousness. Cosmic consciousness knows no exclusion. The realization of this reality is the very essence of our Oneness ...

However, the root cause of our separation or division is an illness with a suitable name - extremely limited consciousness. Unfortunately, a very high percentage of humankind is afflicted with this illness and most are unaware of it.

Extremely limited consciousness will leave you blind and deaf, bring on global warming, never stop waging war, stand in judgment of everyone but its self. It will bring on Armageddon.

The symptoms of this disease are very clear, the cure, however, is much more complicated. No physician has or will ever cure anyone of this sickness. Because narrow-mindedness can only be cured by the self. My words are not philosophical, or intellectual, theological or academic by any definition of those words. I personally know people with master's, doctorates and associate degrees who are cursed with this sickness. Words contain no awareness, although their power to trigger awareness is always present. My words are a simple and humble attempt to convey a message of the need for expanded consciousness in the 21st century. Extremely limited consciousness will destroy our planet if we don't act now.

The first step toward a cure is in the realization that a problem is never solved using the same consciousness that created it.

Secondly, in order to see the brilliant light of the ultimate reality, we must first endure the dark night of the soul. Fear not! By slaying the ego and the vanity we realize that the self is much more than we ever though possible.

Thirdly, always look for truth, it leads to the realization that God is truth. It has been said that one's own words will either condemn or acquit them. My hope is that my words will acquit me of the charge of not being compassionate and caring about my brothers and sisters of this beautiful place we call Earth.

Thank you to all the readers, remember we must get started on our journey to end extremely limited consciousness right now. So much hangs in the balance.

Sports Salaries

Editor, Times-Union:
Fred Yohey suggests that a zero be taken off the salaries of individuals who play professional sports. He complains that they should not be paid so much while others go hungry.

This siren song has been played since the beginning of recorded history. It is the siren song of socialism. It sounds very pleasing to the ear. Its lyrics tell us about equality, peace, justice, etc.

Whenever attempted to put into practice however, it delivers only misery, death and destruction. The reason for this is very simple: the only time that there will ever be true peace, equality and justice on this Earth will be when the Son of God returns.

And whenever man tries to elevate himself to the level of God, through his government, and fill that role meant only for the Lord, catastrophe inevitably results.

So humble yourself, Mr. Yohey, and practice what you preach. If you truly care about the poor, go to where the poor are and help them yourself, and stop demanding that the government force from others that which you would not volunteer yourself.

Food-A-Thon

Editor, Times-Union:
Patrick Brown and his generous staff organized and carried out the annual 36-hour WRSW Food-A-Thon again this year on Nov. 16th and 17th. As a beneficiary of many of the funds and much of the food collected, Combined Community Services wants to express our gratitude and appreciation to Patrick and WRSW. The Food-A-Thon collected over 6,000 pounds of food and a majority of that has already been put back out into the community to help feed the hungry in our county. Our community is greatly blessed to have such a caring and dedicated broadcast media.

Some area restaurants deserve a special thank-you. They provided meals to the radio staff and to the many people from our county who volunteered to answer telephones throughout the 36-hour broadcast.

We'd like to thank local businesses for their financial sponsorship. Thank you to the telephone volunteers who made certain someone was available to take pledges and donations the entire 36 hours.

Last, but not least, a special thank-you to the thousands of schoolchildren who collected food in their classrooms, walked around their neighborhoods or organized a food drive through their youth groups and clubs.

One of the greatest blessings of the Food-A-Thon each year is seeing the children in Kosciusko County take part in giving to those in need. Our county is abundantly blessed with caring children who never hesitate to give to others and who already choose to tackle issues like hunger with action, rather than passing it on to someone else. We have a great group of future leaders!

Fabulous Idea

Editor, Times-Union:
To Sue Armacost and students - I just read the Letters to the Editor in the Times-Union. It was so heartwarming to read about the work that your students are engaged in to better their world. What a fabulous idea to create a swing in Central Park for our wheelchair-bound citizens. I applaud you and your students for sharing your technological expertise and creating a light of joy for some of our disabled friends, as well as DePuy for realizing the importance, and funding the project. What a wonderful example of industry working with our schools to better our students and their world. Keep up the excellent job! A big thank-you also to our park board for maintaining such a beautiful nature spot in the center of our busy town. I teach in Wawasee Schools, but live in Warsaw, and use the park very frequently. It is a joy to walk or drive through the park.
