Editor, Times/Union: We would like to congratulate Coach Jensen, his staff and the players on reaching the Football Sectional Championship Finals for the first time in the history of Warsaw Community High School.
We are the parents of two Tiger football players and are deeply saddened to learn that we will not hear Coach Jensen on WRSW 1480 AM on Saturday mornings discussing the Tiger football game from the night before. This is due to the decision of WRSW 107.3 FM to carry our NLC rivals in their Sectional Championship game against South Bend St. Joe. We could understand completely if another school within our county had reached the level the Tigers have reached receiving the FM coverage, but we don't believe NorthWood is in our county or our town.
The game the Tigers are playing Friday night warrants better coverage than that of the AM station. We live north of Warsaw and cannot even pick up the AM station while sitting in our living room.
Coach Jensen talked in the spring meeting to parents and players that this year "Make Where you are at Big Time" was the team's motto. WRSW, why don't you make where you are at "Big Time" and show your support of the Warsaw Tigers and the accomplishments they have achieved?
Warsaw is a community that takes pride in and supports its sports teams. We urge you to continue that support. Go Tigers.
David and Shelli Boots Leesburg via e-mail Editor's Note: wrsw General Manager Patrick Brown said the radio station's policy toward the Tiger Talk program has not changed. Brown added that it was coach Phil Jensen's decision to decline to do the program.
Thanks To Voters
Editor, Times-Union: I am very gratified by the voter turnout on Tuesday. I appreciate all those who placed their confidence in my leadership as a member of the Warsaw School Board. I am thankful for Tamara Dalton, Rick Kerlin and Rebecca VanOsdol for their interest in serving on the school board. Each one is a committed member of our community and I know their support and involvement in our school system will remain very active.
I am eager to move forward with some important initiatives to improve our delivery of education at Warsaw Schools. We are extremely blessed with outstanding teachers and administrators, very involved parents and a caring community. Together, we can make a difference for the 6,456 students entrusted to our care, that each and every one will reach his or her fullest potential as successful and contributing members of our community and society.
