Don't Do Drugs

Editor, Times-Union:
Hi, my name is Houston. I like this school because they taught us about how we shouldn't do drugs. I hope no one does drugs. I like this school and I know this school can do it! I know that they can make the right choice. I care because I don't want them to get hurt because I care about them. I care about you too and hope you made the right choice. I don't want you to get hurt. I hope you're wearing a red ribbon, too. Are you going to wear it all week?

Vote

Editor, Times-Union:
Every eligible person should vote: so do it! This election is to decide whether we want more government imposed socialism and unionization and wastes of our government or do we at least start using common sense and both morality and fiscally sound guidelines.

So don't throw your vote away by voting for a small splinter party candidate who has no chance to get elected. The radicals hope you will waste this chance to "clean house" in Washington D.C.

Vote for individuals of integrity who want USA to be what it should be, no matter which of the two parties he/she is in. But be sure to not waste your vote on a party that can't be elected.

Running Stop Signs

Editor, Times-Union:
A few days ago, we called the Sheriff's Department because once again, a semi travelling too fast, could not stop at the intersection of 350W and 200N. They drove over the stop sign and through our yard, tearing it up and kept on driving. Unfortunately this is not an isolated incident. Nearly 100 (sometimes more) vehicles run this 4-way stop daily.

A deputy told us "this intersection is patrolled more than any other intersection in Kosciusko County." That is nonsense! I have monitored this intersection a year and a half, and they have spent about an hour here in that period of time. And that was only because I called a number of times to complain. The deputy merely issued a couple of warnings and left. This is like putting a Band-Aid on a massive heart attack patient.

People are driving through these stop signs from 10 mph to 70 mph and even passing one another in the intersection! This is a necessary 4-way stop sign. Meanwhile, with no help from the local law, I will keep extra trash bags on hand to pick up the body parts when a couple of these vehicles collide.

I suggest the Sheriff's Department needs entirely new blood for leadership. Someone who knows where his men are - and believe me they are not at 350W and 200N!
