What a mess! Who would have ever previously thought the state of Indiana would have time zones split by county? Marv Gunter was correct in his recent letter to the editor, things appear to be moving forward apparently through special interest groups and without public input. And, from what I can gather, it's leaning heavily toward Central Time. It's been said no one wants to be in the Eastern Zone. Strange, they've never asked me and I've talked with several other people who favor Eastern time. They've never been questioned either!
I've lived where the time moved forward one hour and really liked it. What nice, long evenings we had to accomplish whatever we set out to do. I also live on a farm and it's been said farmers are against Eastern time. Hmmm. Strange again, I'm unaware of any public meetings where this input could have been gathered.
Look at the map as to where Kosciusko County is physically located; it is located in the eastern half of the state, not the western half. There are many people who reside in the county who travel east for school, employment, medical service, shopping, etc. What a shame if Kosciusko was to be placed on a different time zone from Whitley, Noble, Allen and probably Wabash! So, whoever or whatever group it is that is leaning heavily toward joining in with Marshall, Elkhart and St. Joseph counties needs to take a close look at the other side, too.
