Editor, Times-Union: Two questions. Years ago when the politicans begged the public to vote for a sales tax they promised that if the tax brought in xxx dollars revenue at the end of the first fiscal period that they would eliminate property taxes. They even bragged that the sales tax brought in a great deal more than the anticipated revenue (look it up in your own paper,) so why are we still paying prperty taxes, which will probably jump due to reassessment? Even though the politicans say they have voted in a lower rate, the increased valuation will still increase the amount we pay. I guess they think the public is too dumb to see that.
Second question. When the politicans begged us to vote for a lottery, they promised to use the money for our schools. The moment the bill was passed, they said, "Now we will decide what to spend all that money on." So why are our schools all pleading poverty? So much for politicans' word on anything, and they wonder why the average person has such a low opinion of politicans in general!
