Editor, Times-Union "Where's the beef?" Just about everyone remembers that question, right? I found out where it went. Every Monday this paper has the flyers from area businesses that have items for sale. Almost everyone reads them and if you don't you're a fool for not reading them, because there are a lot of good bargains in them.
Every once in a while they have this bargain which reads: 100% pure beef or ground beef, or what ever for $.88 or $.98 per pound, with a 10 pound maximum. So I purchased 10.47 pounds from this store and 10.46 pounds from the other store. Then I fried each batch and drained each one in a separate container. I then let the liquid material cool and I wasn't really surprised in my findings. Then I weighed each batch. If you're eating this liquid stuff that turns off-white when cooled, then you're spending $.88 or $.98 per pound. But if you're pouring it off, then you're spending $1.25 to $1.45 per pound.
That is why I call it mystery meat. By the way, I never throw the test mystery meat away-the people who attended the Indiana State Championship Chili Cook Off ate it. That's what my People's Choice chili was made up of. There wasn't anything wrong with the meat; it just never weighed 20.93 pounds.
Only the competition meat has to be fried on site, not the People's Choice. My meat costs over $2. per pound and it needs no draining because some employees of the Times-Union, the mayor of Warsaw, owner of Iris Trails and several others can testify to it. The answer to the Little Lady's question, "it's land fill".

Bible Principles
Editor, Times-Union Michael Stevens responds to my letter on capital punishment and abortion by stating you can't believe in capital punishment and say that abortion is wrong because killing is killing. Then he goes on to say by believing in capital punishment you're putting yourself at the killer's level. He then goes on to quote the Ten Commandments by saying "Thou shalt not kill." Period.
It's people like you who rip and destroy the Bible, avoiding and ignoring anything God says that doesn't fit your present-day lifestyle. I've read your liberal letters on government, so I'm not surprised on your opinions on capital punishment. But I would ask you to consider God's opinion. Don't ask or believe me, read the Bible. God tells you in detail on the issue of government. God is a God of love and forgiveness. He is also the God that destroyed thousands of His own people. Yes, there is forgiveness, but there is also a price to pay.
I could sit down with you for hours pointing out verse by verse where God shows you how we are to live with the government system and obey it unless it goes against God's law. I can show you examples on God's statement on capital punishment; I can show you where it gives us the information letting us know it's wrong to dissect a baby and throw it in a dumpster.
Too many liberal Christians have only the perception that God is love and happiness. But God also is a God of disgust, anger, disappointment and punishment. When the Lord sent His angels into Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities were filled with homosexuals and whoremongers, the homosexuals wanted to sleep with the angels. The Lord destroyed the cities, men, women and children.
Today's churches are so liberal that the Bible is rarely used. We have women pastors, even though it clearly states in the Bible the women's role in the church. We have gay pastors which goes against half of the Bible. We perform gay marriages when it is clearly stated in God's words that it is wrong and unnatural. We accept adulterers at communion. We accept Masons at communion.
Let's leave the Bible as it is and I'll leave you with Revelations 22, verses 18 and 19. "For I testify unto every man that hears the words of prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these words, God shall add unto him all the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from these words, God shall take his name from the Book of Life and out of the Holy City."
So if you're bothered by my message from God, don't blame or argue with me, I'm just doing what I'm told as a Christian and a sinner. Take it up with Him.

Shrine Thanks
Editor, Times-Union On behalf of the 350 members of the Kosciusko County Shrine Club we would like to thank the Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair board for allowing our club to sell tickets and park cars at this year's fair. We feel this year's fair was a huge success! This project pays for taking the third graders from Kosciusko County to the Shrine Circus in Fort Wayne. Our great relationship with the Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair association has made this possible for over 50 years.

Church Says Thanks
Editor, Times-Union New Hope Free Will Baptist Church would like to thank DARE officer Terry Polston for coming out and speaking to our church camp. He gave a very informative presentation and presented a video that talked straight to kids about drugs and alcohol. The campers that he had previously worked with remembered the lessons that he had taught them in the past. The DARE program is a very important and vital resource toward combating the problem of young people getting involved with addictive habits. We appreciate the efforts of all of the DARE officers in our community that give their time to the cause that they believe in.
We would also like to thank the Warsaw Dive Team for coming out and giving their presentation during our week of camp. It was very informative and it really kept the attention of the campers. We appreciate the hands on demonstration that Officer Light and Officer Sherwin gave to the campers. The dive team plays an important role in the community and is there when there is a need to find someone or something in the water. The team is currently working on updating some equipment and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.

Singspiration
The "Downtown Days County-wide Singspiration" on July 23 at Central Park was a huge success! Over 500 people from all denominations gathered for a heartfelt time of singing and worship. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Everyone left the service feeling good about being a part of the body of Christ in Kosciusko County.
Special thanks to all those who worked to make this event the success it was.
We trust the Lord to do this again during the July 2001 "Downtown Days." God bless every person who was a part of this great event.
