Hit And Run

Editor, Times-Union:
This letter is to the young lady who ran into my motorcycle at the old Owens Supermarket, Saturday about 6 p.m. I have no idea how you didn't see my bike sitting there, when I was the only one in the whole row of spaces. I can only speculate that you were talking on your cell phone and not paying attention to what you were doing.

I realize that accidents are going to happen, but you should have done the mature thing and stuck around and took responsibility for your actions.

Even though no one got your license plate number, we do know you were driving a white car and you were wearing a red shirt. Hopefully, the police will be able to get your plate number off of the surveillance camera at the store.

My suggestion to you is, go to the Warsaw Police Department and tell them what you did. Or you can spend the rest of your life as a loser.

For those of us who ride motorcycles, mo-peds, bicycles, etc., it is dangerous enough out on the highways, but to share it with people who don't pay attention to what they're doing makes it worse. Now, you're not even safe in parking lots.

If anyone out there thinks they know who this girl was (obviously, she is not mature enough to be a woman), tell her the best thing she could do is to fess up.

Swan Issue

Editor, Times-Union:
The public meeting concerning the swans was pretty much to express that no matter what the public outcry over the slaughtering of the swans on backwater lake and other area waters was, DNR Director Kyle Hupfer - representing the Department of Natural Resources mind - was already set to destroy these mute swans.

He stated that the swan attacks were unprovoked, and yet there were several people that stood up and testified before the politicians and television cameras and told of several provoked incidents.

Your reputation as DNR public servants leaves a lot to be desired.

Your primary goal is to destroy these swans. I can understand if there are some aggressive swans - they should be destroyed. But to systematically destroy that which just came off the protected list is unacceptable.

I know that you will use your power and your position to do what you've already preplanned. But don't expect the public to like it.

A few complaints does not compare to the amount of signatures opposing that which you are about to do.

And that is the destruction of this swan that graces the backwater and other area waters.

Enough

Editor, Times-Union:
Boy, don't you get enough of Mr. Jonathan Mauk though? Sarah Lowe sure lit into him July 18 - hurrah for her!

Sarah, I think Mr. Mauk is trying to make out like Billy Graham, but he is making all kinds of mistakes that Billy never would.

Billy never would accuse a person of low moral standards or pick on a female and others as Mauk has over and over.

Like many others, Mr. Mauk has read the Bible awhile and feels he knows enough to preach his ideas or criticize others he doesn't agree with.

Talk about ego! Enough already!
