I have nothing against the police. Nor do I have a problem with them speeding to a call. But I just don't know how they can justify writing tickets out to people for speeding when most of them do it more then the average person does.
I have seen them (mostly County) doing 10 to 15 mph over the speed limit on North Detroit. Let alone when they get on U.S. 30. We have all seen state, county and city police cars speed by, but do they need to?
I feel if they don't have their lights on to let you know they are on an important call they DON'T need to drive any faster then anyone else. I thought the laws work for both sides. This may be to controversial for the paper ... But people do have an option.

Soccer Coach
Editor, Times-Union: In wake of the triumphant U.S. Women's Soccer Team and the reality of Title IX, I was sad to learn of a decision made of a former classmate of mine. Shirley Fleming is a wonderful person that reminds me so much of Mia Hamm and had a marvelous school career in sports. I remember her soft nature, willing smile and team leadership that forever made a lasting impression of who she is and what she represents. She has almost two decades of working within the Warsaw School Athletic Program, first as a student and now as a coach and leader.
I have never thought much of the Warsaw Athletic Department because their focus in on what it takes to make them look good. Unless you are a student under their wing, you are a nobody and everyone who attends Warsaw knows this is true. It is hard to support our teams, even if they are "top quality" or Top Class in the State, if the negative underlying current of leadership staff is there and ever-present.
I also felt that Fulkerson left many comments incomplete in his interview and should finish them for the readers instead of leaving us to form our own ugly conclusions. Another case and scenario of how the Athletic Department operates. I feel that Shirley, if not now as Fulkerson decided, will make a wonderful head Volleyball Coach in days ahead. She has the spirit in her still that will take her above and beyond the call of duty and would be one of the first in the history of the Warsaw Athletics that treats everyone, athletic or not athletic, like they belong, and encourages them to grow and never quit. What more can we ask of our leaders. This is the Shirley I remember and know, and the Shirley I want you to know.

MMM Thanks
Editor, Times-Union: I recently became very sick and was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. After my experience, I realized that all those involved deserve more thanks and recognition than they actually receive. First, I want to thank my family for their love and support. I also want to thank the EMS, the hospital intensive care, the doctors and the nurses for the fine job they did for me. I appreciate all of their work and apologize for any trouble I may have given them.
Once I left the hospital, I returned to Miller's Merry Manor, here in Warsaw, where everyone went totally out of their way to help me. However, I realized that was nothing new, the staff at Miller's have always gone above and beyond, always doing an outstanding job. James Schmidt, our administrator, even visited me in the hospital. Niki LaRose, our director of nursing, all of the wonderful nursing staff, the dietary staff, the office - everyone went beyond their professional duties to care for me. I want to thank them all. Next, I would like to thank my doctors, Dr. Haase, Dr. Coates, Dr. Turton, Julie Harstine (nurse practitioner) and their offices for the wonderful care they gave me.
I can't thank Miller's Merry Manor enough for all they have done for me. I would recommend Miller's to anyone who needs help and care. The staff at Miller's all care enough to step up the standard and provide great care for the residents. Everyone who helped me deserves more glory than I can give.
