Cheer Thanks

Editor, Times-Union:
The WCHS Cheerleaders would like to send out a big thank-you to all the 5-12-year-olds that participated in this year's Little Tiger Cheerleading Camp. It was a huge success, all made in part by local businesses, mothers of WCHS Cheerleaders and of course who could forget all the parents that allowed their children to participate! Without you, the camp and the parade would not have been possible. Thank you.

Use Headlights

Editor, Times-Union:
Does anyone but me find it strange that the police are told to set up inspection sights to check for seatbelt violations and yet they seem to ignore headlight violations? I'm sure the insurance companies have spent a lot of money to get the seatbelt laws passed. It is a good law that saves lives not to mention money for the insurance companies. That's not the point, if you don't put your seatbelt on you are the one that will suffer the injuries or even death. If you don't turn on your lights and someone doesn't see you, they can be hurt or killed.

I have gone into work at 5 a.m. a few times over the last month or so and within the six miles or so between Warsaw and Leesburg on state road 15, I pass six to 12 vehicles without their lights on. It is light enough to see where you are going but very hard to see cars pulling out or coming towards you. This endangers other people. Please, people, it doesn't cost anything to run your lights, turn them on.

Thanks for at least reading this, maybe some of you will take heed before your family has to suffer through a funeral that didn't need to be so early.

WCDC Says Thanks

Editor, Times-Union:
The Warsaw Community Development Corp. would like to extend a special thank-you to the people who assisted them with their events at this past weekend's City of Lakes Festival. We had a great turnout despite the heat and none of it would have been possible without our sponsors and volunteers. Thank you for all of your help!

Unfairly Punished

Editor, Times-Union:
I am still waiting for an explanation from the prosecutors office on why my husbands attempt at a sentence modification was denied. You know what has happened here is wrong. I guess it is OK for someone to murder, cheat and lie in this county, but being in the wrong place at the wrong time warrants more scrutiny than such crimes. George went into all of this blind, he was always cooperative. You have showed myself and many others that I guess the best case scenario is if you get sucked into something like this, honesty isn't always the best policy. My husband has been punished many times over, as well as myself. If the attempt was to tear our family apart, then you have failed at your attempts because we are closer than ever. I have spoken to some "higher ups" in the political chain who have sided with me. A lot of things are due for changes in this county and I have a feeling that it won't be long before the citizens of this county will get the change they deserve.
