Editor, Times-Union: I know you have heard enough about the Catholic priests but I would like to put in my two cents. I have a close friend of mine is serving time right now for the same thing that they have been doing for far too long and getting away with it. If the Catholics wanted to do the same thing, why don't they let the states where these cases took place handle it. This friend was put in for 15 years and when he gets out he will have to register with the sheriff in the county where he will live. I'm not condoning what he did but why not treat them to some jail time, not just say stay out of the church where there's youth. Why are they any better, they should serve time. Just taking away their priesthood is not enough, they will do it again and again when the urge hits them, as I hear they're human, or are they?

More Rick Fox
Editor, Times-Union: I agree 100 percent with golf coach Joe L. Harris' letter to the editor, "Not Enough Golf." I want to let you know of a lot of your readers that agree with me, "Not Enough Rick Fox."
Last year in Sports Illustrated June 11, 2001, a full article about Rick, three pages, I took the article to the Times-Union and was told they only put what AP gives them.
Rick is a Warsaw High School graduate and now has three NBA championship rings, not to mention that he has a $25 million contract. During the NBA finals it was mentioned that he was the smartest player on the floor and one of the best in the NBA. Shaq says, "There's a small number of guys who say they want to win and really mean it." O'Neal says, "Rick is one of those few." South Bend Tribune 6/3/02 color picture of Rick on front page of the sports ... all this to say that three NBA rings, a graduate of WCHS, I am sure that no WCHS graduate will ever match his success in sports. Some sports editors of the Times-Union could certainly have given Rick more personal columns than just saying we use what AP gives us.
N. Bruce Howe Warsaw via e-mail Note: Apparently the letter writer missed the March 20 edition of the Times-Union. In it, he would have found a 33-column-inch (approximately 1,000-word) personality profile on Rick Fox. The story was written exclusively for the Times-Union by Angola Herald-Republican sportswriter Rick Blue. Blue, who covers sports for the Times-Union as a correspondent, traveled to Milwaukee to interview Fox. The story ran under the headline, "Fifteen Years Later, Rick Fox Has It All." The story was accompanied by two photos of Fox in action: one as a Warsaw Tiger in the 1986 regional game against Concord - NBA star Shawn Kemp, coincidentally, is guarding Fox in that photo - and another of Fox warming up before the Lakers-Bucks game in March. Several Associated Press photos of Fox also have been published throughout the current NBA season. It is difficult to obtain personal interviews with NBA stars. I was favorably impressed with our sports department's enterprise in that regard.

Bad Play Station
Editor, Times-Union: I saw some thing on television Saturday evening that made me very sick and ashamed to be an American. Play Station is offering a reproduction of D-DAY! That is nothing more than saying the people who died there don't mean a thing to America and it is a major slap in the faces of the families who lost someone there! I just do not understand how America could let this happen, it's kinda like we're proud to be American, but it's more important to make money! And what does this do to our children? When people talk about D-Day, the kids will say, "That's a really cool game," and with all going on in America right now, flags everywhere, I think that this is a step backward. It's stupid! And I'm wondering what is next? perhaps the Holocaust? How many Jews can you kill? That is stupid!
