Howard Dean

Editor, Times-Union:
There are times I wonder about the intelligence of some people ... this week it is Howard Dean.

If the Democratic Party doesn't have enough trouble ... they now have a mouthpiece in Dean to give them more headaches. What is he thinking? His remarks about the Republican Party and Republicans in general are absolutely stupid!

First off, in each party there are people who have no brains. Let's be honest, people. We have a society that opens its mouth and then puts its brain in gear. Sometimes even with their respective brains in gear there is no intelligent thought or words produced. So before people start an all rehash of every goofy thing that one or the other have done, let's just admit dumbness on both parties and leave it at that.

I'm an evangelical conservative Christian who happens to be Republican. I am not in any way, shape or form anti-semitic - in fact we should honor the Jewish State of Israel. Anyway, saying all of this, I just think the Democratic Party should be looking to people who are smart, young, moderately conservative in their approach ... Evan Bayh comes to mind and the young man from Illinois. Is it Obama? Anyway, someone who will help their party develop and grow.

Truly the bashing and rehashing is getting very tiring. Granted there is enough out there to keep our tongues wagging for years. Isn't it time we start to think what is best for this country? Personally, we should be in prayer over all that is going on here and abroad and less time in condemning one other.

Don't get me wrong. We should have a voice and make sure we speak up for what we think is right ... but, hello, let's have some smarts about how we do it.

Editor, Times-Union:
Congratulations to the first team in history to win the High School State Golf Championship.

We do not realize how good our high school golf team has been over the years. Warsaw has won 20 sectional championships, five regional titles, finished second in the state in 1969, third in 2004 and fourth in 2001.

The 2005 team of Jake Brodhead, Chris Hanson, Jon Clevenger, Grant Slater and Tad Nieter won the state title with hard work and dedication and will go down in history.

The golf coach, Ben Barkey, along with all the former golf coaches, golf teachers and former players, will be celebrating this state championship.

Warsaw High School has had a solid golf program over the years and should be recognized for their achievements.
