Whitko Superintendent

Editor, Times-Union:
This is a letter to address all of the Whitko community citizens. It is vitally important for you to give your opinion to our school board about the upcoming hiring of a superintendent.

Having been a former school board member myself, I would like to give you mine. Dr. William Worl and Dr. Diana Showalter have been the greatest assets to our school corporation. There has been no one who has done more for our school system and our kids than they have.

With Dr. Worl leaving, I believe that there is no one who could fill that position better than Dr. Showalter. She already has been so very loyal and devoted to our schools and their children. She makes sure that they get the best education material and continues to improve their learning scores. She has proven her dedication to our corporation by writing countless grants to better our education program and introduce other new programs that would not have been possible without her. She has a very trusting relationships with most of the staff. She is a very devoted Christian woman. Who better to run our corporation?

She has been under Dr. Worl for a number of years. What a great person to learn from. How many times have you attended a school function and seen Dr. Worl or Dr. Showalter there? Another fine example of how much our children mean to them. Not only do they care about our children's education, but also them. Our corporation could never find anyone better than what we have. We know we already have a person who is qualified and has shown her character and devotion. She has a very outstanding reputation. Why do we want to take a chance on a person we only know through a paper application?

I will be attending the open meetings and I hope you will, too. Please attend the meetings at Whitko High School on Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m. and also at Pierceton Elementary on Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. to give your opinions.
