Letters

Editor, Times-Union:

My sincere thanks for choosing to edit my last letter as you did. I must have overlooked the statement of a 500-word limit and I apologize for going overboard. Sometimes, I get started and one issue will run into another and I just keep going. I'm notorious for writing up to 20-page letters to family members so I do appreciate you cutting me down to size.

I do enjoy and appreciate your "Letters" column as it gives people a chance to unload and express their thoughts and feelings in these trying times. Sometimes it is positive and sometimes it is negative, but all in all, it is good that people can vent in such a harmless way. However, when one person responds to another person's comments, I notice that it becomes personal and judgmental. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, right or wrong, good or bad, but that does not make that person you disagree with "wrong, bad or stupid." If you are in the eye of the public or making choices and decisions that are important to the country or world as a whole, then it can become and should become personal and judgmental to hopefully redirect the agenda that you feel is not in the interest of the masses.

There are a lot of angry people in this country and, unfortunately, I am one of them. I get frustrated over things that I know I have no control over and have little hope of making the changes necessary for the betterment of all. But I try to address the issue, not condemn the person for trying to get his/her point across.

Again, staff of the Times-Union, thanks for keeping me informed and on track. With that being said, I hope I made sense and will stop here as I do tend to go on and on and on.
