NORTH MANCHESTER – Leona K. Acord, 65, North Manchester, died at 7:15 p.m. Sept. 10, 2013, at her residence. She was born April 29, 1948, in Rochester, to Orville E. and Mae E. Niccum Metzger. On Sept. 15, 1967, she married Ernest Acord, who survives. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1966 and achieved certification for dental hygiene. She was a homemaker and dental assistant in Fort Wayne, Michigan and Georgia. She was known for her great cooking and being an excellent baker. She was a wonderful mom and grandma. Surviving are four daughters: Amy (and spouse Jeff) Acord Hannah, Atlanta, Ga.; Elizabeth Marie (and spouse Andy) Culbertson, Silver Lake; Angela Belin Thurston, Milford, Mich.; and Emily (and spouse Scott) Acord Robbins, Poolesville, Md.; three brothers: Leon (and spouse Agatha) Metzger and Wilmer (and spouse Janet) Metzger, all of North Manchester; Max (and spouse Irene) Metzger, Silver Lake; a sister, Esther (and spouse Billie) Blocher, North Manchester; and five grandchildren: Matthew and Michael Hannah, and Olivia, Owen and Lillian Robbins. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester, with Larry Cripe officiating.
