MILFORD – Leon Robert Baut, 76, of Milford, passed away Dec. 3, 2012, in his residence.
He was born Feb. 12, 1936, in Elma, Mich., to Robert and Gretchen May Baut. On Oct. 31, 1973, he married Emiko Harada, who survives.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, where he served in Japan and met his wife. He attended First Brethren Church, Nappanee, and enjoyed boating and working outside. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his family and friends.
Also surviving are four sons: Steven (and spouse Michelle) Baut, Milford; Michael (and spouse Amy) Baut, New Hampshire; Jeff Baut, Michigan; and Todd Baut, Tennessee; two daughters, Debbie Free, Utah, and Gretchen Baut, Florida; four grandchildren, Brady, Blaine, Ava and Molly; and four brothers: Bobby (and spouse June) Baut, Tommy (and spouse Helen) Baut, Billy Baut and Rex (and spouse Linda) Baut. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Brethren Church of Nappanee with Pastor Tom Schiefer officiating. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery with military rites.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mishler Funeral Home, Milford, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
