Leesburg Parade

Editor, Times-Union:

This is in response to the Leesburg man who complained about the "Tea Party" float being in the Memorial Day Parade Monday and his comment that the participants were chanting "throw the bums out." I'm wondering, sir, just what parade were you attending?

I was in that parade and there was nothing like that happening at the parade I was at. It was a lovely event and the Lord even had the rain stop just in time for the parade to start. There was no yelling or shouting. We may have sung a few patriotic songs and waved our lovely flag and handed out candy, but, sir, nothing like you portrayed us to be.

I don't understand why people just out and out lie about the "tea party" movement and its people. I'm still trying to figure out where Nancy Pelosi saw a "swastika and such" at a tea party.

In answer to your comment that our float had no business being in the Memorial Day Parade, well, we were there because our country is in trouble and she needs people who will wake up and stand up and be "silent no more" about what is going on. People who will speak out for our freedom and liberty before it is lost. Memorial Day is to honor those who fought and died for our country to keep it free. We don't want to lose that freedom and liberty so they will have died in vain.

Anyone who has ever been to one of our meetings our rallies would be appalled at your comments suggesting that we would yell "throw the bums out", as they know us as a peaceful group. As a matter of fact, we stand for freedom, and our Constitution ... bring about less government, more responsibility and - with God's help - a better world by providing leadership, education ... in accordance with moral and Constitutional principals.

Do you realize how your public lies have slandered your fellow veterans and what they have done in sacrifice to our country!

God bless America.
