FORT WAYNE – A Larwill woman was one of two people injured Thursday morning in a three-car crash on U.S. 30.
According to a release from the Indiana State Police (ISP), shortly after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, the ISP responded to a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 30 East near Flaugh Road that resulted in two people being injured. Due to the crash and subsequent investigation, U.S. 30 east of Flaugh Road was closed for nearly two hours.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a white Dodge Sprinter van traveling east on U.S. 30 approached a line of stopped traffic at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Flaugh Road. The driver, Cheryl Montana, 73, Larwill, failed to stop and collided with the rear of the stopped vehicles.
The impact involved a black Ram pickup driven by Jailan Hedgecock, 30, Fort Wayne, and a white Chevrolet driven by Christian Nichols, 25, of Springville, Ala.
Both Montana and Hedgecock suffered injuries in the crash and were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment.
During the investigation, troopers located an unharmed dog inside the Dodge van. The animal was safely secured and later reunited with Montana’s family, the release states.
The ISP were assisted at the scene by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department and the West Central Fire Department.
