Lana Lou BowserAKRON – Lana Lou Bowser, 64, of rural Akron, passed surrounded by her family at 7:14 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
Lana was born on Sept. 2, 1957, in Rochester, to Norman L. and Rozella M. Holloway Tinkey. She was married on Nov. 6, 1977, in the Akron Church of the Brethren to Frederick Wayne Bowser; he survives.
She graduated in 1976 from Tippecanoe Valley High School. She then attained her real estate and insurance licenses. She worked for her father at Tinkey Insurance Agency for many years. Lana then worked for Akron Elementary School as swoop reading recovery leader. She also was known for being a friendly face at Green Oaks of Rochester. Most recently, she was a paraprofessional for Columbia Elementary School of Rochester.
Lana had been a lifetime member of the Akron Church of the Brethren where she had served in many roles. She had been treasurer and was active in Bible school and Sunday school. She enjoyed shopping and was a collector of many things. She took great care in decorating her home and she loved her flowers. Lana enjoyed taking short trips with her family. Lana’s family, especially her grandchildren, were her life. She always had a smile and will be deeply missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Bowser, Akron; children: Brent and wife Aryn Bowser, Alyssa and husband Travis Ramsey, of Rochester; and Le’Erick and significant other Alex Rockhill, of Warsaw; grandchildren: Dixie, Benjamin, Maison, Ella, Abbygaile, Braiker; mother, Rozella Tinkey, of Akron; sister, Tana M. Tinkey, Akron; and a brother, Bryon and wife Christine Tinkey, Akron; nephew, Johnathan Tinkey.
Lana was preceded in death by her father, Norman; a granddaughter, Prim Ramsey; and many aunts and uncles.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron.
The funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with Pastor Phil Pratt officiating. The interment will take place in the Akron Cemetery, Akron.
