Laketon Man Arrested For Failing To Register As Sex OffenderA Laketon man recently was arrested and charged with a felony for failing to register as a sex offender.
Richard Dean Hyde, 48, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:47 p.m. Tuesday and charged with a Level 6 felony for failure to register under the sex offender statute.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Nov. 19, 2019, in Kosciusko Superior Court I, Hyde was convicted of child molesting in Kosciusko Circuit Court on Feb. 1, 2007. He was required to register as a sex offender for life, and did so on Sept. 9, 2015.
However, a compliance check was completed by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 15, 2015, and Hyde was not registered and has not been since.
On Nov. 6, 2019, Hyde was arrested on two Kosciusko County active warrants by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department and provided his address in Wabash.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office had never heard from Hyde prior to that about his Wabash address, according to court papers.
When Hyde was transported to KCJ Nov. 6, 2019, he allegedly provided police with a different address in Warsaw.
On Nov. 20, 2014, Hyde was convicted of failure to register under the sex offender statue, a Level 6 felony, in Kosciusko Superior Court I.
