WINONA LAKE - Lakeland Christian Academy recognized three members of the Class of 2026 for their outstanding achievements, leadership and commitment to excellence.
These students were recently honored with some of the school’s highest distinctions, reflecting both academic accomplishment and Christ-centered character, according to a news release from LCA.
Senior Noah Higham was named a National Merit Semifinalist, an honor awarded through the National Merit Scholarship Program, one of the nation’s most prestigious academic competitions. Students qualify based on exceptional scores earned on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Semifinalists represent less than 1% of high school seniors across the country and demonstrate remarkable academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
Jackson Barros received the Timothian Award, an honor unique to Lakeland Christian Academy. Selected by the faculty and senior class, this award recognizes the senior who best exemplifies the qualities found in 1 Timothy 4:12: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.” Jackson demonstrates Christ-like character and leadership both inside and outside the classroom, the release states.
Samantha Bloomfield was honored with the LCA Cougar Excellence Award, the highest distinction bestowed upon an LCA graduate. This award recognizes a student who embodies the best qualities of an LCA education through excellence in areas such as academics, leadership, spiritual growth, resilience, fine arts, extracurricular involvement and critical thinking. Recipients must complete a Core 40 curriculum, attend LCA for at least two years and receive faculty recommendations.
