Lady Warriors Outlast Fairfield In Overtime Thriller

SYRACUSE – Casey Schroeder scored six overtime points to lead the Wawasee girls basketball team to a 48-33 home win over Fairfield?Tuesday.

The Lady Warriors (2-1) led 21-15 at halftime and 33-27 heading into the fourth quarter.

Fairfield responded with a 13-point fourth quarter to send the game into overtime.

That’s when Schroeder nailed a three-pointer and knocked down three free throws, while Jada Carter hit two from the stripe, to lead Wawasee to victory.

Schroeder scored 18 points, while Carter added 14. 

Morgan Sanchez led the Lady Falcons (1-2) with 14 points.

Wawasee will play Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Westview.

Crush Cornerstone Prep

WINONA LAKE – The Lakeland Christian girls basketball team started off its season in style.

The?Lady Cougars handily won 52-16 over Cornerstone Prep in a home game Tuesday. 

The Lady Cougars led 14-5 after the first quarter, and carried a commanding 31-5 lead into the second half. 

Cornerstone Prep never threatened their lead.

Lakeland?Christian’s Tori Calizo recorded 17 points and five steals, while Anna Reimink added 12 points, six rebounds and five steals. 

Jessi Calizo pulled down eight rebounds and picked off seven passes for the Lady Cougars (1-0).

NORTH MANCHESTER - Kennedy Fierstos had 11 points, five assists and four rebounds to lead the Manchester girls basketball team to a 44-21 victory over Lewis Cass Tuesday in a home game.

The Squires had a double-digit lead at halftime, but put the game out of reach with a 16-2 third quarter.

“We had a great defensive stand tonight,” said Manchester coach Jacob Everett. “The third quarter was the difference again.?The girls are doing a great job of responding out of halftime.”

Emma West tallied nine points, five steals and three assists for the Lady Squires (1-0), while Kennidy Lauer added eight points, five rebounds and four blocks, and Keira Hatfield registered seven points and five rebounds. 

Manchester won 47-20 in the JV game. Ranissa Shambarger led the Lady Squires with seven points and four steals, while Makenzey Meyer pulled down seven rebounds.



Triton Falls In Overtime

ARGOS – The Triton girls basketball team was edged 35-33 in overtime Tuesday at Argos.

The Lady?Trojans (0-2) were led by Delanie Groves, who scored seven points, while Jaela Faulkner and Chelsea Johnson scored six points each. 

Kagnie Hoffman led Argos (2-1) with eight points. 

Triton will play Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at South Central.

CULVER - Sophie Bussard scored 22 points to lead the Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball team to a 67-44 victory Tuesday at Culver Academies.

The Lady Vikings earned their first win of the season, while handing Culver Academies (2-1) its first loss. 

Makenzie?Woodcox scored 13 points for Valley (1-1), while Jillian Walls and Sidney?Wagner each scored nine points.
