Lady Lancers’ Stull Named NCCAA Player Of The Week

Lady Lancers’ Stull Named NCCAA Player Of The WeekWINONA LAKE – Kyannah Stull earned national recognition after a pair of fantastic efforts for the Grace women’s basketball team.

Stull was named NCCAA Player of the Week for the first time in her career, and she became the second Lady Lancer this season to earn the recognition.

In a 73-71 victory over Goshen, Stull had 26 points and nine rebounds. She also set a new career high in 3-point field goals made with seven.

Against No. 21Huntington, Stull tied a career high in points with 27 while shooting 55 percent from deep.

 For the week, the junior guard shot 45 percent and averaged 26.5 points and 5.5 rebounds. She also made 12 3-pointers.

Grace (15-9, 6-6 Crossroads League) will host NAIA No. 5 Taylor at 6 p.m. Wednesday.



CL Announces Athletes of the Week

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from January 27 through February 2. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners.

Men’s Basketball

Brandon Durnell, Spring Arbor

Durnell led RV Spring Arbor to wins over Huntington and No. 6 Mount Vernon Nazarene with 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per victory. Durnell scored 23 against Huntington and recorded an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double in the upset of MVNU.

Women’s Basketball

Sarah Fryman, Huntington

Fryman posted a 28-point, 13-rebound, 10-assist triple-double to lead No. 21 Huntington to a 90-74 win against Grace and also scored 24 points in a five-point win at SAU. The senior forward averaged 26.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per victory for the Foresters.

Men’s Indoor T&F Field Athlete

Bailey Lang, Bethel

Lang hit the NAIA B standard in the weight throw with an event-winning toss of 16.94 meters at the Indiana Wesleyan Classic.

Men’s Indoor TF Track Athlete

Drew Thornton, Marian

Thornton scored wins in the 600-meters, 4x400-meter relay and 4x800-meter relay for Marian at the ONU Invite. The freshman also hit the NAIA A standard in the 4x800 and the B standard in the 600-meters.

Women’s Indoor TF Field Athlete

Raegene Thomas, Marian

Thomas won the shot put and took second in the weight throw to lead Marian at the ONU Invite. Thomas posted a mark of 12.93 meters in the shot put and broke her own MU record with a distance of 15.61 meters in the weight throw.

Women’s Indoor TF Track Athlete

Jessica Sprinkles, Indiana Wesleyan

Sprinkles hit NAIA A standards in the 1,000-meter run and distance-medley relay for Indiana Wesleyan at the IWU Midwest Classic, winning each event. Sprinkles’ time of 2:57.77 in the 1,000-meters shattered the previous IWU record and was the best in the NAIA this season.

Baseball - Pitcher

Justin Pettit, Taylor

Pettit picked up the win on the bump in Taylor’s 11-4 upset over national power and No. 19 Lewis-Clark State at the Coach Calderone Invite in Arizona. The senior righty worked 4.1 innings in relief, allowing only one runner and fanning six batters.

Baseball - Player   Baylee Adams, Marian

Adams collected five hits, two doubles, four runs batted in and three runs scored in a pair of Marian victories to open the season. The senior catcher hit .625 with an .875 slugging percentage in the doubleheader sweep of Piedmont International.



Softball - Pitcher

Lauren Kanai, Taylor

Lauren Kanai went 2-0 with a save in the circle for RV Taylor, highlighting a 4-0 showing in week two in Arizona for the Trojans. The junior worked 13.2 innings, fanning 10 hitters, while also hitting .538 with four extra-base hits and seven runs batted in with the bat.



Softball - Player

Lauren Kanai, Taylor

Kanai was a force at the plate and in the circle for RV Taylor, hitting .538 with a 1.077 slugging percentage for the Trojans in four games. Kanai scored five runs, stroked two doubles, one triple and one home run and knocked in seven, while also going 2-0 with a save for TU.
