Lacking Letter

Editor, Times-Union:

Thanks for the satire of right-wing ad nauseam. Limbaugh and Beck seems to link Larry Sexton's letter; it somewhat lacks credibility.

Perhaps it is purely because the wilful misuse of words. The attempt to rob words of their proper meaning is a pet peeve of mine; I find American political discourse so abhorrent right now.

You obviously have no idea about the political spectrum, of economic concepts like socialism, fascism, communism or capitalism, or the social sciences. McCarthism is like a monkey with a dart board. Just keep throwing stuff until something sticks. Not just the imaginary kind that these guys dream up while bestriding a bidet.

The Republican party is the closest thing to fascism this country has endured, but mainly by the shared ideology of a government supported and protected industrial complex. As a side note, the National Socialist Party (Nazism) was: a) more Fascist than Socialist and b) born of Glenn Beck-style fear mongering. They are propagandists and political bullies. They have have relentlessly pitted one half of the country against the other, stoking fear, anger and hatred against their fellow American.

As for Socialism, systems like education, highways and Medicare are perfectly in line with a Democratic Republic. It is what a community does, the very reason for civilization is to pool our resources for the greater good. Consequently, the greed's minions have, and always will, complain at the top of their lungs, even though, they reap the greatest benefit.

Tea Parties are desperate, they are running out of straws to grab at. These are merely the shrill screams of a dying brand in its last throes. Fewer and fewer Americans (22 percent) buy the manipulation that the country needs ideological purity. Thanks anyway. I am looking toward the survival of America over any party of misplaced idealism.

Larry, imagine what your taxes would be if your state didn't receive an annual subsidy of federal deficit dollars and state residents had to pay the full costs with no infusion of federal money. At least thank Obama for the monies to retool Warsaw roads! You still want small government? And imagine how high your federal taxes would be if Americans had to pay the full costs of defense, medicare, subsidies to states, etc. without borrowing money from the future. Something to bring up at your next tea party. Money has corrupted politics so much that it doesn't resemble what the Constitution intended Congress to be.

If a public option is so bad, how come the best socialized medicine money can buy was good enough to keep Tricky Dick Cheney alive during the last eight years?

How about passing a bill making him pay it back? Or will that take too much money from his war profiteering?

"Not that I condone fascism, or any -ism for that matter. - Isms in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself." - Ferris Bueller.

I find your letter lacking ordinary quickness and keenness of mind!
