For the record, there is no issue as to handicapped accessible parking at the Kuder Estates Apartments. This apartment complex actually has more than the legally required number of handicapped accessible parking spaces and the appropriate aisles to facilitate the use of those spaces.
The city's fight with Kuder Estates Apartments - which has been initiated in response to pressure from one individual non-resident - has nothing to do with handicapped-accessible parking. The city has been persuaded that there must be a no-parking aisle in front of every entrance in the project. This position has no basis in law and would result in significantly fewer parking spaces for everyone.
The residents of the Kuder Estates Apartments, as well as other apartment projects, condominium associations and business owners should be very concerned about the city's actions in this matter.
