NORTH MANCHESTER – Harley Kruschwitz didn’t waste any time making his presence felt on the soccer pitch in his senior season, scoring six goals and assisting with three others in the Squires’ boys soccer season-opening wins over Peru and Huntington North last week.
For that effort, Kruschwitz has been names the Times-Union Athlete of the Week for Aug. 18-24.
The assists and two goals came in a 14-0 rout of Peru on Thursday, and he had all four of the Squires’ goals in its Saturday victory over the Vikings.
"I don't see every team play, but I can't imagine there's more of an offensive threat, maybe in the whole state ... he's gotta be up there," Manchester head coach Dave McKee said of Kruschwitz Saturday.
"Harley stayed focused and worked hard. And he made some nice passes for people to get goals ... he's a team player. He's definitely for the team."
Kruschwitz and the Squires travel to Wabash on Thursday for a Three Rivers Conference game, then Manchester will host its invitational tournament Saturday.
