Kosciusko’s Bowl For Kids’ Sake Raises Over $43,000 For BBBS Youth Programs

Big Brothers Big Sisters concludes another year of Bowl For Kids’ Sake fundraising, rounding up a grand total of over $43,000 for its mentorship programs in Kosciusko County.
Presented by Pro Resources, the annual bowling fundraiser hosted at The Bowling Alley drew in 48 teams from across the county during its three sessions, who each made it their goal to raise big for Littles in BBBS’ programs and the 36 Littles on the waitlist, according to a news release from BBBS. Their fundraising efforts, which lasted through March, contributed to over $43,000 raised, which supports current and future matches just like Little Sister Emma and Big Sister Christa.
Meet Big Sister Christa and Little Sister Emma from Kosciusko County, who were just matched as School Buddies this March. Christa and Emma have only met once, but Emma has already beaten her Big Sister at two games of Uno and Guess Who! Christa was excited to also get a special tour from Emma of the classroom and her cubby. The two are sure to get along as they meet more, both being fans of the color blue and playing outside.
These participants showed that they support the BBBS mission with as much spirit as they do their favorite teams, this year’s theme. Best dressed winners were the Lake City Bank Warsaw East, Garza Tree Services and Moving Pictures Tattoo Cinema teams, who went home with BBBS merch prizes.
This big outcome wouldn’t have been possible without the steadfast support and exceptional fundraising efforts of the community across Kosciusko County, the release states. BBBS thanks everyone who fundraised and donated to open a world of possibilities for young people through mentorship. However, there are still 36 youth waiting for a mentor in their lives in Kosciusko County. For those who were not able to participate, visit the website at www.bbbsnei.org to learn ways you can still get involved, such as the School Buddies program.
BBBS gave a special “thank you” to the sponsors that made these BFKS sessions possible: First Merchants Bank, ThunderBowl #1, Ashley Industrial Molding, Bowen Health of Noble and DeKalb County, Core Mechanical Services Inc., Gunsaullus Industrial Services, Optimist Club of Fort Wayne, PepsiCo., Pizza Hut, Shambaugh & Son L.P., Local UAW, Warsaw Breakfast Optimists, Kiwanis Club of Warsaw, SYM Financial, United Way of Kosciusko and Whitley County and Wildman Business Group.
