Kosciusko Recycling’s May Tire Days Were ‘Successful’

Posted

Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management District board discussed the Tire Days event they held May 11-15 during a board meeting on Tuesday, May 19.
During the Tire Days event, KC Recycling accepted tire drop-offs for free. At the beginning of the week, they only allowed five tires to be dropped off at a time, but as the week went on, they allowed more to be dropped off at once.
They collected 914 tires in total, filling a trailer. There were 165 drop-offs, though not all were unique visitors, as some of the guests were repeats during the week.
Approximately half of drop-offs were from Warsaw residents, but Mentone and Pierceton brought in the second most tires. Tire Days are open for any residents of Kosciusko County who have a valid ID to verify their county of residence.
KC Recycling will be holding more Tire Days from Monday, July 13 to Friday, July 17; Monday, Sept. 14 to Friday, Sept. 18; and Monday, Oct. 19 to Friday, Oct. 23, at KC Recycling Depot, 220 S. Union St., Warsaw.
KC Recycling will also be holding shredding events from 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 24; Wednesday, Aug. 12; and Wednesday, Oct. 7. During these events, Kosciusko residents can have paper, including confidential documents, shredded for free.
In other business, Warsaw Mayor Jeff Grose reported Wawasee Schools recorded the deed, so the transfer of the property KC Recycling sold to Wawasee Schools has been completed.
