The Kosciusko Leadership Academy (KLA) continued its 2026 program with an in-depth session focused on the forces shaping the local economy, featuring three expert presenters who each offered a unique perspective on economic growth and sustainability in Kosciusko County.
The session opened with Dr. John Teevan of Grace College, who provided a comprehensive economic overview of Kosciusko County, tracing its evolution from an agricultural-based economy to a diverse regional hub for manufacturing, innovation and professional services, according to a news release from KLA. Teevan highlighted key historical milestones, workforce trends and the importance of education and infrastructure in supporting long-term economic resilience.
Building on that foundation, Rob Parker, president and CEO of the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Warsaw, shared how the chamber plays a critical role in strengthening the local economy. Parker outlined how advocacy, business engagement, downtown development and community collaboration help attract investment, retain talent and support business growth across the county.
The session concluded with David Findlay, chairman and chief executive officer of Lake City Bank, who discussed the role of community banking in economic development. Findlay emphasized the importance of local decision-making, access to credit and relationship-based banking in supporting entrepreneurs, businesses and families. He also shared insights on broader economic trends, emerging financial challenges and the value of keeping capital invested locally.
Together, the presentations gave KLA participants a well-rounded understanding of how data, partnerships and financial institutions intersect to drive economic vitality in Kosciusko County, the news release states.
The next KLA session will address health care in Kosciusko County. That program is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 3 and will be held at LKH Administrative Building.
The Kosciusko Leadership Academy is now in its 43rd year of service to the county. As an independent 501(c)(3) organization, KLA conducts biweekly morning sessions across Kosciusko County, exposing emerging leaders to a wide variety of local topics and experts. The program’s annual white paper projects have provided meaningful benefits to citizens and communities throughout the county, the release states.
