Kosciusko Leadership Academy (KLA) continued its 2025–26 program with a session focused on “Protecting Our Water Resources” at the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams, located at Grace College in Winona Lake.
Cadets gained insight into the unique challenges and opportunities facing Kosciusko County’s abundant lakes and waterways, according to a news release from KLA. Dr. Nate Bosch, director of the Lilly Center and dean of the schools of engineering and science at Grace College, shared research, data and practical strategies on how communities, businesses and individuals can work together to protect and preserve this vital natural resource.
The session highlighted the role clean water plays in recreation, local economies and overall quality of life. Cadets also learned about the work being done at the Lilly Center, including water quality testing, invasive species management and educational outreach efforts that connect local students and residents to lake stewardship.
The next KLA session will be Sept. 23 at the old courtroom in the Kosciusko County Courthouse, featuring speakers representing local judicial and law enforcement systems.
The Kosciusko Leadership Academy is now in its 43rd year of service to the county. As an independent 501(c)(3) organization, KLA conducts biweekly morning sessions across Kosciusko County, exposing emerging leaders to a wide variety of local topics and experts. The program’s annual White Paper projects have provided meaningful benefits to citizens and communities throughout the county, the release states.
