Kenneth Edward BixlerKenneth Edward Bixler, 79, of Holmesville, Ohio, went home to be with his heavenly father on Jan. 31, 2023.

He was born near Apple Creek, Ohio, on June 30, 1943, to the late Reuben and Elma Nussbaum Bixler.

He married the love of his life, Shirley Richeson Bixler, on June 22, 1964, and was dedicated to the care of her for 58 years. Her life was forever touched by Ken and will not be the same without him.

In addition to his wife, Shirley Bixler, he is survived by two children, Melissa (Jeff) Reidenbach, from Holmesville, Ohio; and Kevin (Jerica) Bixler, from Warsaw; six grandchildren: Blake Bixler, Kalee Benowitz, Cody Bixler, Megan Tucker, Lance Reidenbach, Evan Reidenbach; seven great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and two brothers, Clair Bixler and Dave Bixler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Vernice Bixler and Paul Bixler.

Ken retired from RR Donley & Sons after 42 years working as a pre-media job controller. In addition to his work in magazine production, Ken was an avid salesman selling real-estate, Shaklee products and life insurance.

His children would lovingly say his favorite child by far was his Jack Russell Terrier, Chipper. His love of Chipper earned him the nickname "Ken-dog" as he was never without her. Some of his favorite hobbies included playing board and card games, riding ATVs and going out to eat with his wife, Shirley.

His love of Jesus Christ led Ken to hold many positions in his churches throughout his life including serving as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, director of Awana and working as the chairman of the pulpit search committee.

While his family misses him dearly, they know he is experiencing the true joy of being with his creator and savior.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. at Grace Church, 4599 Burbank Road, Wooster, Ohio, with Pastor Randy Moomaw officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio's Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, OH 44691.
