KCSO Appoints Pastor Jarod Osborne As Jail Chaplain, Announces New Jail Ministry Program To Start April 1

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office announced that Sheriff Kyle Dukes appointed Pastor Jarod Osborne as the official jail chaplain, effective Jan. 1.
Osborne is the head pastor at Warsaw Pathway Church and shares the sheriff’s vision of a team approach, according to a news release. All Kosciusko County churches are invited to partner in the ministry.
“With the alarming number of people currently incarcerated for drug addiction issues, the jail ministry will also take a proactive role in providing programs to foster rehabilitation and teach life skills,” the release states. “Pastor Osborne will work closely with Tammy Cotton, who will oversee these rehabilitation programs. In the coming year, developing and growing the jail ministry will be a top priority as we strive to meet the needs of our inmates and our community.”
The name of the new jail ministry program will be LITE, which stands for Living In Transition Effectively. LITE will serve as a re-entry program for all inmates and will provide instruction in life skills, bible studies and educational classes, as well as providing connections to counseling services that connect inmates with courses, programs and services.
LITE will rely on individuals in the community to lead classes and programs, mentor inmates, facilitate Bible studies, assist inmates in setting goals along with other things. Every LITE volunteer will be required to go through training and background checks before being granted access to the jail.
The program will officially launch April 1.
LITE is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that will not use taxpayer funds in its normal operations. The operations of LITE will depend on the community for funding, leadership and volunteers.
