Jury Finds Man Guilty In Support Case

Posted
A Kosciusko jury found a man guilty of not paying his child support Wednesday, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.

Mylon Betts, 39, Marion, was convicted of two counts of failing to support his dependent child in Kosciusko Superior Court III after a two-day trial.

Betts was found to owe $21,564.19 in back child support.

The evidence introduced at trial indicated that the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Child Support Division, has had a long history of enforcement efforts against Betts, which included a prior conviction in 2007 for non-support of a dependent child.

As a result of his prior conviction, Betts’ charges were enhanced to level 5 felonies, which the jury convicted him of on each and every count, the release states.

Judge Joe Sutton set sentencing for Dec. 7.

Betts faces one to six years on each count.
