A Warsaw man was found not guilty on two counts, including battery by a deadly weapon, by a 12-member jury Tuesday in Kosciusko County Superior Court I.

Scott Ryan Blevins, 40, was found not guilty of battery by means of a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony, and not guilty of criminal mischief, a Class C misdemeanor.

Blevins pleaded guilty to a third count, possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. Judge David Cates sentenced him to the county jail for a term of 60 days, with credit for time served. He was released and ordered to pay the public defender fee of $300.

Blevins was represented by local attorney Jay Rigdon.

Blevins had been accused of cutting a man’s torso with a knife on March 6, 2017, at 3529 W. CR 100S, lot 5, Warsaw, after sticking the knife in the tires of a vehicle, according to court documents.

After Blevins was taken into custody, he was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for medical clearance before being taken to the jail. At the hospital, Blevins tested positive for methamphetamines.

While being processed at the jail, a device used for smoking meth was found in Blevins’ underwear, as was aluminum foil with a residue, according to court documents.
