June Elizabeth 'Beth' Slaybaugh

AKRON – June Elizabeth “Beth” Slaybaugh, 87, formerly of Akron, died at 11:50 a.m. Dec. 26, 2011, in Palms of Sebring (Fla.) Retirement Community, where she resided. 
She was born Nov. 6, 1924, in Silver Lake, to Royal and Ella Ulrey Brown. On Dec. 24, 1946, in Silver Lake, she married Richard L. Slaybaugh, who died Oct. 10, 2006.
She was a homemaker and attended Akron Church of God for many years, where she was very active with every part of the church, especially in bus ministry. She was a member of the Wally Byum Caravan Club International. She and her husband enjoyed spending winters in Florida as a part of their Airstream travels.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen (and spouse Jeri)  Slaybaugh, Sebring, and Scott Slaybaugh, Cayman Islands; a daughter, Suzanne Caudill, Burket; a brother, Bruce (and spouse Marjorie) Brown, Sun City, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Brian, Dustin, Jennifer, Stephanie and Shawn; and seven great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Margaret Clark and Irene Surface.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Akron Church of God, 301 West St.,  Akron, with Pastor Terry Canfield officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery. 
Calling is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, is in charge of arrangements.
