After reading the latest rant about the people of South Carolina and their politicians, one would have to conclude that it was written and submitted by a native of the state, or one of their politicians. That conclusion would be based on the fact that all the attributes the writer listed as inherent in citizens and politicians in South Carolina are evident in his writings (past, present and unfortunately, probably future). To be explicit the letter being responded to certainly exhibits bad taste. Further, it is so poorly written it is indicative of a low IQ. Lastly, the sum total of bad taste, poor manners and a low IQ evident in every letter submitted to date, all tend to confirm the author's origin as also being from a shallow gene pool. If he's not from South Carolina, it would be terrific if he moved there. With his statements of what folks down there are like he could run for governor. While the benefits of that to the citizens of South Carolina are doubtful, it would be a blessing for readers of the Times-Union. It probably won't happen but it pleases me greatly to visualize this person standing at the bus station (it's raining) carpetbag and a sodden ticket in hand, all atwitter to be going back to his roots, where, according to his writings, a guy can wade in his gene pool and not get his ankles wet.

I don't expect the writer of the letter responded to here to appreciate these comments. I would be disappointed if he did, but in consideration of the mentality involved one can never be certain about a reaction. The message is that because someone from South Carolina has the effrontery to challenge the silver-tongued liar who occupies the White House, it does not give this person license to condemn the entire population of a state. I concede Governor Sandford is a weasel, but at least he did not use the state capitol for his illicit liaisons, unlike a few one of our past democratic presidents that treated the White House like a presidential brothel.
