NORTH WEBSTER – Joseph L. “Joe” Gudas Jr., 86, Leesburg, passed away at 10:05 p.m. March 12, 2014, at his residence. He was born May 11, 1927, in Foley, Ala., to Joseph L. and Antonio Agatha Arndt Gudas Sr. He was married to Marcia Kagin, who preceded him in death January 1991. On April 19, 1996, in Fort Wayne, he married Joan L. Leedy Williams, who survives in Leesburg. He attended high school in Winamac, and served in the U.S Air Force. He was a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor in Fort Wayne for many years. He moved to the Leesburg area permanently in 2003 from Fort Wayne after coming to the lake for many years. He was a member of the North Webster Church of God; American Legion Post 253 and Lakeland Kiwanis , both in North Webster; and Shoaff Park Lions Club, Fort Wayne. Also surviving are three daughters: Cynthia Heckmen, New Haven; Peggy (and spouse Michael) Miller, Goodyear, Ariz.; Rebecca (and spouse Richard) Boone, Columbia City; two stepsons, Thomas (and spouse Janice) Williams, Pierceton, and Michael (and spouse Carol) Williams, Leesburg; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four sisters: Mildred Redweik, Kewanna; Edwinna Martin, Winamac; Mary (and spouse Jim) Perry, Piqua, Ohio; Johanna Gudas, Winamac; two brothers, Algrid (and spouse Erica) Gudas, Winamac, and Edwin (and spouse Patty) Gudas, Kewanna. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster, with Pastor Dennis Judy officiating. Military services will follow at the funeral home by North Webster American Legion. Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Monday in the Covington Memorial Cemetery, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
