Joseph Anthony "Joe" Kozon

SYRACUSE — Joseph Anthony "Joe" Kozon, 90, Syracuse, passed away Oct. 11, 2017, at Elkhart General Hospital. 

He was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Nanticoke, Pa., to Ignacz and Rose Karz Kozon. On Aug. 27, 1949, he married Geraldine Buffo, who survives. 

He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. 

Joe is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jerry Kozon, Syracuse; four sons: Michael Kozon, Maumelle, Ark.; Edward (Linda) Kozon, Naperville, Ill.; Joseph (Patricia) Kozon, Muncie; and John (Kristi) Kozon, Syracuse; a daughter, Elizabeth (Ron) Schickel, Foley, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded by all six of his brothers. 

A funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Syracuse, with Father Andrew Nazareth officiating. Military honors will follow the Mass at the church. 

Burial will be Tuesday at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill.
