Jonas Clark Spoke For Freedom And Liberty

WWJCD? What would Jonas Clark do? Hopefully, you recall my "opinion" (Oct. 2) concerning the Rev. Clark, pastor to many Founding Fathers. Jonas spoke for freedom and liberty and opposition to oppression and tyranny ... issues of that time (1775). The "shot heard around the world" marking the beginning of our American Revolution against the tyrannical king of England happened outside Pastor Clark's church and many killed were its members.

In fairness to the silence of present day church leaders and pastors regarding the issues of our time, it should be remembered that the Rev. Clark and his leaders did not have to fear loss of funding and membership for violating government 501(c)3 designations for non-profit organizations. Pastor Clark's concern was the king of England and the king's probable charges against Clark for treason.

Also, in fairness to clergy and church leadership of this era for their continued silence regarding the moral issues of this time, the Rev. Clark and his men did not have to fear a summons to federal court for violating "separation of church and state" statues. In fact, those alive at the time our founding documents were written would have known that the words ... "separation," "church" and "state" were absent. Once again, Pastor Clark's concern, if caught by British forces, would have been the hangman's noose.

Any Jonas Clarks out there? There were back in 1857, those who spoke out against slavery and the Dred-Scot decision. The resultant Civil War that followed exacted a great loss of life. In the 1940s, there were once again courageous people and pastors like Kietrich Bonhoeffer of Germany who spoke out against Hitler's Nazi party's belief that Jews, like slaves, were property and therefore disposable at the master's/government's pleasure. Bonhoeffer made a stand, spoke out and paid with the loss of his life as also did millions of others perish in a World War where ominous warning signs were ignored.

Now, days away from the most important election of my 80th year, we must cast our ballot for the most non-negotiable and profound moral issue of all time ... the protection of life itself from the moment of conception until natural death. The choice is clear ... the Democrat party's platform and its elected presidential candidates have chose death. They, the Democrat leadership, have decided the unborn child (like the Jews of Nazi Germany and the slaves of Civil War days) is property and therefore undeserving of the same rights as its owner. This is a lie and its effect is murder.

WWJCD? J.C. (Jesus Christ) declared Satan "a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in truth ... he (Satan) is a liar" ... John 8:44. Jesus, by contrast, is the truth. John 14:6. I believe King J.C. would have the J.C. pastors of this age speak out and stand up for truth exposing the many lies of Satan the master spin doctor and his followers. If the church and its pastors won't speak out, who will?
