Join the Union Fight

Editor, Times-Union:
If you’re interested in the right to work law that Indiana unions are fighting right now, you must check out the minority report of the interim study committee on employment issues. Go to www.in.gov/legislative/house_democrats/ You must read this study and its findings. You will soon learn for yourself that this right to work law is bad and will be bad for the state of Indiana.

The way I see it, it is nothing more than big corporations’ way of cutting wages and benefits for their employees while they stuff their pockets full. Mitch Roob states in this report that Indiana ranked number five in the nation for business climate without right to work law. It goes on to say cheap labor overseas limits the effectiveness of RTW policies to attract companies looking for lower labor costs.

Indiana will never be the choice of site selection based primarily on cheap labor costs, regardless of our RTW status. We stand to lose between $1,500-$5,538 per person per year with the RTW law. So, yes, it will cut wages and benefits period.

This report on the study done is 11 pages long and none of it is good for the Indiana worker. Please take the time to look it up and read it.

So I would love to see every single union, no matter how big or small, go to Indianapolis on Super Bowl Sunday and circle the Lucas Oil stadium. I would guarantee that would get someone’s attention and they would not just stand and call us chicken sh**s.

First, we have Obamacare shoved down our throat. Now we have Mitch’s RTW b.s. What’s next? The disarming of the American citizen? Don’t laugh, they’re working on it.

Have a good day, Mr. Daniels and Mrs. Kubacki.
