SOUTH WHITLEY – John R. Ross, 57, rural South Whitley, died Oct. 24, 2015, at his home. He was born Jan. 16, 1958, in Columbia City, to Donald R. and Bonnie L. Warner Ross. His formative years were spent in the Sidney area. He graduated from Whitko High School with the class of 1976. He was a career-long farmer in eastern Kosciusko County. He was a member of the Eel River Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed fishing, and in the spring of the year mushroom hunting, both locally and in Michigan. Surviving are three sons: twins James Ross, South Whitley, and Jason Ross, Greenfield; Jordan Ross (and his companion Audrey), North Manchester; three grandchildren, Ariel, Erin and Emma; his mother, Bonnie Ross, South Whitley; three sisters: Gwen Ross and Kathy (and spouse Dennis) Rhoades, all of South Whitley, and Martha (and spouse Wes) Stouder, Leesburg; and his companion, Cathy Nestel, South Whitley. He was preceded in death by his father and a granddaughter, Morgan Ross. Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
