Editor, Times-Union: Periodically, in one’s lifetime, you meet someone that leaves a lasting impression upon yourself, others they come in contact with and their community. I first met that individual over 30 years ago in the person of John Anglin.
John was a humble man but the impact he made and has left on the agricultural community of Kosciusko County will live on in many lives for decades to come. He was an honest and fair businessman. He was a consistent supporter of our agricultural youth through the county 4-H program and the FFA chapters within Kosciusko County. He believed that recruiting and training young people with roots in our community was an important step in preserving our agricultural heritage. He eagerly told agriculture’s story and how it impacted everyone’s life. He lived and demonstrated that a desire to succeed and a strong work ethic brought positive results. He would quietly and unselfishly help those in need.
Our community has lost a true gentleman. Though he would be the last to accept any praise, he would be the first to encourage others to set an example of leadership and exhibit strong moral values. John will be deeply missed by his family, his friends and his many acquaintances. Our sympathy goes out to his family in this time of sorrow. However; I know I speak for those that knew John when I say he enriched our lives and made us better persons through our association with him.
