Joe Wendell ShipleyJoe Wendell Shipley was born Dec. 23, 1946, to Jack and Florence Shipley and departed this life peacefully at home on April 27, 2023.
Originally from Silver Lake, he met his wife, Beverly Caudill, and had just recently celebrated their 57 years together. He attended Sam’s Technical Institute for architectural drafting. The happy couple moved to Fort Wayne and remained. He spent his working life building and selling new construction homes. In his personal life, he enjoyed golfing, figuring out the latest technical gadget, wood turning and most importantly, spending time with his family.
Joe is survived by his wife, Beverly Shipley; children: Wendy Bickel (Matt), Jason Shipley (Elizabeth); siblings: Jay Shipley (Kathy), Lisa Woodiwiss (Kent); 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a 5 p.m. remembrance at Silver Lake Lions Club, 108 N Harrison, Silver Lake.
