Joann Ruth Williams, 87, passed away Aug. 22, 2016, after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 30, 1928, in Galion, Ohio, to Winston and Leona Smith.
In 1946 she married Charles Graff, who preceded her in death. In 1971 she married Curt Davis, who preceded her in death. On March 15, 2009, she married Robert Williams, who preceded her in death.
She resided in Indiana with her husband Curt Davis and at Hill Lake, Silver Lake, with her husband Robert Williams.
She was formerly a member of The Eastern Star, Marion, Ohio. In this area, she had been employed at The Post, Pierceton; Silver Inn, Silver Lake; and Ace Hardware, Warsaw.
She was known best for her quick, witty sense of humor. Everyone who knew her loved to be in her company. She loved people and especially children. She began attending Shiloh Chapel in 2004 where she committed her life to Christ. She was named "Honorary Grandma" of Shiloh, where she "adopted" all the children from infants to teens. She was known by all as Grandma Joann. She will forever be honored, loved and highly esteemed by all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally (and spouse Rick) Bemis, Norcross Ga.; a nephew, Eric Smith, Cartersville, Ga.; stepchildren: Russel (and Kelly) Justice, Silver Lake; Ray (and Laura) Justice, Branson, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Laura (and Doug) Zumbrun, Upland; and 12 step-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Shiloh Chapel, 7306 W. 1250S, Akron, with Pastor Dwight Wagoner officiating. A luncheon will follow the services.
Calling begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the chapel.
