AKRON – Joan L. McKain, 80, of Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw, and formerly of Akron and Kokomo, died at 11:55 a.m. Dec. 16, 2013, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was born July 30, 1933, in Jackson County, to Walter and Marie Youngman Foreman. On Oct. 1, 1973, in Tennessee, she married Sid S. McKain, who died April 7, 2011. She was a waitress at various restaurants. She enjoyed crocheting and her grandchildren. Surviving are five daughters: Brenda Marie (and spouse Barry) Gardner, Lawrenceville, Ga.; Mary Lea (and spouse Wendell) Couch, Edenburg; Deborah Oneita (and spouse Cryil) Hiestand and Leona Jean (and spouse Jim) Douglass, both of Union City, Ohio; and Heather Renee McKain, Akron; a son, Frank Sears, Kokomo; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, William “Billy” Foreman, South Bend. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Foreman. Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Terry Canfield officiating.
