Jimmy Lee Burns

Jimmy Lee Burns, of Warsaw, passed away Jan. 18, 2026, in the care of Brickyard Healthcare in Muncie at the age of 63. Jimmy died as the result of injuries from a car hitting his scooter on Sept. 30, 2025. His dear friends would like to share their gratitude and thanks for the care and support this community showed Jimmy throughout his life.
He was born on Jan. 27, 1962, in Rochester, to Muriel Louise Love Tyson and Ivan Roy Burns Jr. Jimmy attended Tippecanoe Valley High School in Akron. He worked at Kralis Bros in Mentone, Maple Leaf Farms in Milford and most notably he worked 11 years at R.R. Donnelley in Warsaw.
Jimmy will be remembered as a “survivor” who lived life on his own terms. Jimmy often lacked the resources to live a “comfortable life,” but he did not let this slow him down. He was tough and resilient, often driving his scooter to work or errands on days when most people would stay home. Stormy weather would not keep Jimmy from going where he had chosen to go. Jimmy’s mother died when he was young. He was only able to experience this lifestyle because he lived in a community of caring people. The community: restaurant workers, landlords, church pantry helpers, fellow employees and neighbors stepped in and cared for him when he was not able to care for himself.
He leaves behind many dear friends as well as his nephew, Eugene Burns, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol Burns.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jimmy’s life at graveside service at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
Memorial Donations may be sent to Cardinal Services, 504 North Bay Drive, Warsaw, IN 46580.
